Election Integrity Overview

The BallotBox Election Integrity Protocol (EIP).

Platform Integrity Charter

Our commitment to democratic principles.

BallotBox is built on four pillars of integrity: Transparency of process, Secrecy of the ballot, Accuracy of the count, and Accountability of the officials.

Independently Verifiable Results

Voters are issued a digitally signed receipt containing a unique transaction hash. This allows voters to verify that their participation was recorded without exposing their choices.

Chain of Custody Tracking

For hybrid elections, BallotBox tracks the movement of physical materials. Every transfer of custody is logged, ensuring that paper ballots and digital results are never left unsecured.

Comprehensive Audit Bundle

At the close of an election, the system generates a full audit bundle including ballot reconciliation, incident logs, and participation reports for independent review.

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

Strict separation of duties ensures that those who set up the election cannot cast votes, and those who count the votes cannot modify the voter list.

Recount & Dispute Resolution

In the event of a dispute, BallotBox provides the necessary data for a comprehensive audit. Recounts are performed by comparing the anonymized digital ballot box against the physical statements of the vote and the participation logs. The authority of the Electoral Officer is final, as defined by community bylaws.
