Your vote is your business.
BallotBox is architected to decouple your identity from your choices. Once you cast your ballot, the link between your user account and your specific selections is permanently destroyed.
1. Data Collection & Purpose
We collect only the minimum data required to ensure election integrity.
Verification Data
Name, DOB, and ID numbers are collected solely to verify eligibility against the official voter list provided by your community. This data is encrypted at rest.
Participation Data
The system records THAT you have voted (to prevent double voting) and issues a digital receipt. It does NOT record HOW you have voted in association with your profile.
2. Indigenous Data Sovereignty
BallotBox respects the principles of OCAP® (Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession) for First Nations data. Communities using BallotBox maintain full ownership of their member lists and election results. Centurion Computers Ltd. acts only as a custodian of the data for the duration of the election service agreement.
3. Data Retention & Deletion
Following the certification of an election and the expiration of the legal recount period (as defined by your community's bylaws), sensitive voter identification data is scheduled for purging from our active systems, unless otherwise required by law or requested by the community governance authority.
